We would have written this list sooner, but we practically killed our social lives the past couple of weeks by immersing in CHAiR’s latest installment to their Infinity Blade series—often held up as the standard bearer for mobile gaming due to its beautiful graphics and addictive gameplay.

But don’t feel so guilty about spending so much time trying to “kill” people who happen to be called the Deathless, ad infinitum. Like so many other things in this world, there are actually life lessons you can learn from playing this hit game, life lessons like…

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/infinity-blade-text-8a.jpg" width="100%" type="subheading"]8. Under-promise, but over-deliver.[/text_image]

True, all you have to do is to whittle your opponent’s life to 0 by dodging, blocking or parrying their attacks and then hitting them while they’re open like a sword-swinging version of Punch-Out. But when you actually win, do you ever stop swiping at your opponent before he gets to drop on the floor? Of course not!

And the game specifically rewards you for this. Consider it a “performance bonus,” if you will. Life rewards you greatly as well for exceeding the expectations of people around you, so use that to your advantage.

It doesn’t matter if you are seeing the exact same cutscene for the 1,000th time, you will still watch it in hopes of finding gold bags or potion ingredients lurking in the background. And even if your weapon looks exactly like a finger, you will still use it, because you can never take anything for granted in this game.

In real life, you only live once (No, we're not abbreviating that.), so don't take anything for granted in life, either.

After two sequels, the core gameplay of Infinity Blade III remains mostly the same: meet an enemy, fight him, get some loot, and move on. While a few people expected the sequels to radically overhaul the game, CHAiR stuck to its guns and delivered something they clearly felt they knew best. Several rave reviews later, it appears they are right on the money.

Stick to your guns when you know you're doing things right. It will pay off for you.

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/infinity-blade-text-5a.jpg" width="100%" type="subheading"]5. Always leave people wanting more.[/text_image]

[buffer by="15px"]

For years, mobile gamers have been hoping for something to scratch their Diablo-ish itch. Infinity Blade Dungeons, a spinoff independent from the main Infinity Blade series, was supposed to be the answer to that. Unfortunately, that game is all but canceled.

You just know that when they eventually get around to making this game happen, everyone will be flocking to it like moths to a flame. That's exactly how you should conduct yourself as well: don't give them everything in one go. Planned scarcity and obsolescence is the way of the world.

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/infinity-blade-text-4b.jpg" width="100%" type="subheading"]4. There is merit in simplicity.[/text_image]
[buffer by="15px"]

Infinity Blade couldn’t have been simpler to pitch. You play for infinity. With a blade. Well, that simplicity has yielded thirty million dollars in a year alone. Not everything has to be some kind of complex, overarching endeavor.

Life would be so much simpler if it weren't complicated (duhhhh).

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/infinity-blade-text-3a.jpg" width="100%" type="subheading"]3. Never trust someone with way too much time on their hands.[/text_image]

[buffer by="15px"]

First, they’ll ask you to do a couple of things for them, then the favors get progressively bigger and bigger until you end up trapped in an inescapable eternal prison without even realizing you have been had until it’s way too late. There's a reason why they aren't doing anything but are still asking you to do something for them. Stay away. Stay very far away.

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/infinity-blade-text-2.jpg" width="100%" type="subheading"]2. Success comes in recognizing patterns and adapting to them accordingly.[/text_image]

[buffer by="15px"]

If you want to get far in the game and in life, pattern recognition as a life-skill is an absolute must.

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/infinity-blade-text-1a.jpg" width="100%" type="subheading"]1. Experience is the best teacher.[/text_image]

[buffer by="15px"]

After your 1,000,000th playthrough, this lesson should be apparent, and maybe you’ll finally put the game down and get back to real life. Any day now…
