There’s no denying it: Sarah Geronimo is a once-in-a-generation kind of performer. We love her (and I especially loved her film trilogy with John Lloyd, by the way), and her amazing ability to evolve her music and style, all the while keeping the thing that put her in the map, in the first place: her vocal prowess.

For her 10th anniversary concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, we expect her to pull out all the stops and entertain her fans like she always does, but we would be especially impressed by her if she picked even just two of these challenging songs to cover in her own inimitable way…

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/8-Songs-We-Dare-Sarah-Geronimo-number-8.png" width="100%" type="subheading"]8. Down With The Sickness - Disturbed[/text_image]

Why? A metal song for the pop icon? I don’t care if they rearrange the song into a ballad and bowdlerize the cuss lyrics out, but just having Sarah G sing this song would get the blood pumping of anyone in the audience who knows what the original song was.

Why Not? Can you imagine Sarah G’s fans getting into a mosh pit? I can’t.

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/8-Songs-We-Dare-Sarah-Geronimo-number-7.png" width="100%" type="subheading"]7. Antukin - Rico Blanco[/text_image]

Why? This is perfectly within Sarah’s vocal range, but the lyrics are just special, and would be a treat to hear delivered a few octaves higher. I’m sure that given her colorful life experiences, she can draw from within to really make this song soar.

Why Not? A bad rearrangement might make a cover of this song sub-par. “Antukin” really worked for Rico Blanco because of the catchy guitar riff, and if they somehow managed to mess that up, as some of Sarah’s backup musicians sometimes do, it would be pretty terrible.

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/8-Songs-We-Dare-Sarah-Geronimo-number-6.png" width="100%" type="subheading"]6. Look At Me Now - Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes[/text_image]

Why? Can Sarah G rap? I’m sure to an extent she can (at worst, she’s probably going to be at least better than Carlos Agassi, who should really stick to tennis), but if she can pull off the Busta Rhymes verses in this song, then I would forever be in awe of her.

Why Not? When Justin Bieber did this song, nobody was impressed by his lyrical skill. They just found more excuses to hate on him. Associating yourself with Chris Brown is never a good thing for your career.

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/8-Songs-We-Dare-Sarah-Geronimo-number-5a.png" width="100%" type="subheading"]5. Pyramid - Charice, featuring Iyaz[/text_image]

Why? Assuming fellow singing superstar Charice wouldn’t mind, this is a great song to cover for Sarah. Also gives an opportunity for a token appearance, for that matter!

Why Not? Because their rabid fanbases, who seem to absolutely loathe each other, will probably try pitting them against each other again. Like this.

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/8-Songs-We-Dare-Sarah-Geronimo-number-4.png" width="100%" type="subheading"]4. The Remedy - Jason Mraz[/text_image]

Why? Who wouldn’t want to hear one of Mr-Az’s best songs ever, covered by a top-level performer? The lyrical flow of this song is amazing in its almost-but-not-quite rap tempo, and leaves enough room for Sarah G to flex her belting muscles if she so wants to.

Why Not? I’m more inclined for her to do a Mraz medley than just pick one song. I just have the strongest of hunches that those songs would fit her perfectly.

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/8-Songs-We-Dare-Sarah-Geronimo-number-3.png" width="100%" type="subheading"]3. Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat - Daniel Padilla[/text_image]

Why? Because this song is always good when anyone but Daniel Padilla sings it.

Why Not? Because this means Daniel Padilla will inevitably show up at the concert. I think an Anne Curtis guest spot is terrifying enough already.

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/8-Songs-We-Dare-Sarah-Geronimo-number-2.png" width="100%" type="subheading"]2. Baby I’m A Fool - Melody Gardot[/text_image]

Why? Just listen to it! Can’t you imagine Sarah G just killing it with this one?

Why Not? Will her fans appreciate a song this awesome but this obscure? I’m honestly not too sure.

[text_image img="http://8list.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/8-Songs-We-Dare-Sarah-Geronimo-number-1.png" width="100%" type="subheading"]1. Kaleidoscope World - Francis Magalona[/text_image]

Why? Arguably the best song from the late Francis M’s discography, I would relish the opportunity to hear Sarah Geronimo do her take on it. It would also be awesome to mash up a little bit of “Lullabye” by Shawn Mullins while we’re at it.

Why Not? Actually, I can’t think of a single reason why not. This song is too good for you to pass up on, Sarah! Go for it!
