[dropcap letter="R"] ecently, yet another instance of Pinoy Outrage® erupted over a pair of wakeskaters, as they performed their stunt in Banaue (no, not the car parts haven), home of the Ifugao Rice Terraces. This brings back memories of the similar furor engendered by a prenup shoot in Libingan ng mga Bayani two years ago. The uproar is head-scratching, given how the entire event was performed with consent and regard for the environment—and that is more than can be said for its current stewards, who are often criticized for failing to maintain the World Heritage site.

So ultimately, like a bunch of kids who completely ignore their toys until someone else wants to play with them, some Filipinos got all in a huff because, reasons. And yet so long as the environment is not adversely affected, why stop at the Banaue Rice Terraces? How about if people also tried wakeskating in...

Now a part of the new seven wonders of the world, this is a perfect venue to strut one’s stuff in. If the underground river itself is not kosher, then maybe just outside it would be fine.

Bonus points if Taal erupts while they’re doing their thing!

With the added challenge of Chinese military vessels firing at them. It’s like a video game come to life!

Dangerous, but certainly something any thrill-seeking wakeskater worth their salt would be chomping at the bit to take a crack at.

They probably need to wear some hazmat suits, though. You never know if some radioactive mutant from underneath the river would try to drag them under.

Ah, maybe not here. If they tried to, very few people might feel bad if our coast guard rammed them into submission.

What else have they not done in Boracay, anyways?

I heard it’s flooding lately, with all the tears over their heartbreaking defeat at the hands of DLSU in the UAAP finals.

What do you think of that Banaue wakeskating video? Is it worth all the outrage? Let's discuss in the Comments Section.
