[dropcap letter="A"]s someone who's been kicked out of college (but eventually graduated from another institution), I can tell you that flunking is quite a life-changing experience. It makes sense that such an academic disaster teaches you very important life lessons, such as:

Can you imagine trying to get a decent job (by middle-class standards at least), if you don’t have a college (or university) degree? This is especially true in the degree-centric Philippines.

My clients are always interested in my previous work. They never ask to see my diploma or (God forbid) my transcript of records during presentations.

At the very least, your job interviews will include explanations on why you flunked out, and why that doesn't mean you'll be a terrible employee. That's a disadvantage you could've done without.

However, mistakes like flunking out won't define the rest of your life. Just be sure you understand how to avoid repeats.

Flunking out means you delay your progress by at least a year or two, a period that could have been more productive in every way.

A friend of mine is a doctor based abroad. He earned his degrees on time (med schools are very unforgiving of poor academic performance, anyway), but now wishes he could've chosen a different career path.

For some stubborn-headed idiots, it takes flunking out to drive through the consequences of over self-gratification.

Some people flunk out of college because they were pressured into a course they didn't like. Others missed the cut because they were too scared to fight for a deserved grade that would've kept them in.

The point is that unless you have a clear idea of what you want, the feasibility of that, what you need to do to make it happen, and the selfish desire to make all that happen, you will fail. Not only in school but in life as well.
