Harry Potter creator J. K. Rowling named Roald Dahl's “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” as one of her top ten books every child should read in a 2006 list for the Royal Society of Literature.

Danny, and his father, William, find a way to get back at a neighbor who bullies them.
Adapted into a movie starring Jeremy Irons as William.

Re-interpretations of five well-known fairy tales with new surprise twist endings.

Charlie Bucket gets a chance to visit the chocolate factory of chocolatier Willy Wonka.
Adapted into two movies. “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka (which popularized the song “Pure Imagination”) and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” directed by Tim Burton starring Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka.
A musical adaptation directed by Sam Mendes premiered in West End in 2013.
